Review of Tocotronic's new album
Tocotronic*** K.O.O.K. (Motor Music) Hamburg-based Tocotronic comes under this country’s newest music category: “intelligent pop in the German language of the New Age.” The “Tocos,” as the trio is referred to by their fans, are ever-evolving musically. Therefore it is logical that they shed their punk image, in favor of a hipper, jazzier sound on their innovative new CD, K.O.O.K.. “We want to make a living with our music,” explains Toco leader Dirk Von Lowtzow, “but we have never had an eye on the pop charts. Now that we are in the charts, though, we can create the kind of music we like without worrying about money.”
