Brew-haha

As if the 172nd Oktoberfest weren’t enough reason to immerse oneself in all things beer, we found another for those savvy on Munich’s beer history. The city’s new Bier und Oktoberfestmuseum is now open, giving visitors an intoxicating look at over 100 years of brew-related culture. Located inside one of Munich’s oldest buildings, at Sterneckerstrasse 2, the museum displays a variety of historic beer mugs, kegs and brewing equipment, as well as photos and information about some of the area’s brewing forefathers. And the fun goes on even after the museum closes, when you can head to the Bierstüberl to take a swig of your own. Munich barley juice culture, anyone?

The Bier und Oktoberfestmuseum is open Weds.–Sun., 11 am–5 pm. The Bierstüberl is open from 6 pm.
