Bowled Over

It’s Super Bowl Sunday time! On February 5 the championship game of America’s National Football League (that’s football, not soccer!) takes place in Detroit, Michigan. It’s one of the USA’s most-watched broadcasts and you can catch it right here in Munich. Kickoff time is midnight in Germany, but some bars and pubs are staying open extra late to show the game—with specials and parties to boot. Here’s our pick of the places to go:

• Budweiser on ice, burgers and jello shots—what else could you possibly need to watch the Super Bowl? You’ll find it all at The ARC, which will be kicking off the festivities in true American style at 8 pm. Enjoy a beer and burger special for € 9.50, try your luck at winning yourself a football, then stay to catch the pig-skin action on four big screen TVs, Schraudolphstrasse 24.
• The Hard Rock Café’s rockin’ Super Bowl party will cost € 18 per person. This includes a welcome drink, coffee and buffet at halftime. Reservations are required, call Tel. 242 94 90.
• Günther Murphy’s Irish pub will also be holding a Super Bowl party, kicking off at 9 pm with karaoke, hot dogs, nachos and burgers. Fans of the winning team will get a free shot of tequila, Nikolaistrasse 9.
