New Public Hours

for the American Consulate General Munich

Since April 2006 the American Consulate General Munich has offered new public hours for American Citizen Services: 1 pm–4 pm (Mon.–Fri.)

The hours for notarials and applications for social security numbers (SSN) are: 1:00 pm–4:00 pm (Tues. and Thurs.)

The Consular Section encourages people, when possible, to correspond via e-mail to Consmunich@state.gov and to use the website www.usembassy.de as the primary source of information. The website may also be used to check the status of your passport application online. Please note that Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and First-time Passport Issuances are done by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please email the applicant’s name, address, phone number and age. Passport applicants able to apply for a passport by mail are strongly encouraged to do so.

Munich’s Non-Immigrant Visa Section to Open July 5, 2006. Munich will join Frankfurt and Berlin as Germany’s third non-immigrant visa issuance post on July 5, 2006. Visa interviews are scheduled by appointment only through our fee-based call center: 0900 1-850055 (€1.86 / min). Appointments in Munich may be made from mid-June. These will be allocated on a priority basis to people resident in Bavaria and who complete the electronic visa application form DS-156. <<<
