Berg Heil!
Climbers, skiiers, and hikers often hear “Berg Heil!†(Mountain salvation!) when they come across fellow mountaineers. The mountains have long held significant symbolic power as sources
of inspiration and envigoration for Germans of all ages and classes.
As a mountain sports and advertising photographer, Uli Wiesmeier
has long helped shape this strange mythology, and now satirizes
that cult of the mountain in a series of 16 large format photographs. “Berg Heil†will be on display from March 29 to June 24 at the
Alpines Museum.
