Spinning Wheels

From November 4 to 9 Munich’s 6-Tage Rennen (6-day race), held at the Olympiahalle, will bring together some of the world’s best bicyclists — such as Olympic gold winner Silvio Martinello — to compete for glory, money and a MGF Rover. The competition is based on a point system. Sprints, laps and elimination races earn winners points that are tabulated at the end of the event, when a champion is announced. The six-day “cycle-thon” may be a world-class sporting event, but that is only one reason that thousands of people visit the autumn happening. What makes Munich’s party on wheels so desirable are its sideshows. This year, Boney M., the Spider Murphy Gang and Jürgen Drews will perform at the event. The Olympiahalle’s culinary offerings will be as diverse as its racers and pop bands. International dishes, from crêpes to sushi, are sure to satisfy the hungry bike enthusiast.
