Viennese Art Nouveau

The Villa Stuck celebrates the 100th anniversary of the “Kabarett Fledermaus” with a comprehensive exhibit on the art movement with which it was intrinsically linked: the Wiener Werkstätte or Viennese Workshop. Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Moriz Jung, and Josef von Divéky designed elements for the legendary cabaret. Actors at “the bat” included Marya Delvard as well as Lina Vetter, and dancers Grete Wiesenthal and Gertrude Barrison. The Villa Stuck exhibition features a wealth of items from that milieu. Pieces of art nouveau from 1907 to 1913 are displayed alongside recently discovered sketches, drafts, photographs, manuscripts and documents gathered for the presentation. Catalogs will be available for € 35. The exhibit was created in cooperation with the Austrian Theater Museum in Vienna, and will run there next year after leaving Munich. Here, it is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11 am to 6 pm, until January 27. Several special workshops and evening events, including Slam Poetry nights, will be offered in conjunction with the exhibit. www.villastuck.de <<<
