Winter Editorial

Dear Reader,

As December is always a time of recapitulation, I want to give my very special thanks to all of the readers and advertisers who have been with us throughout the past year. Without our readers’ eager interest, and without the loyalty of our permanent advertisers—some of whom have been with us since our beginning in 1989—we never would have managed to stay afloat in the turbulent sea of the print magazine market. Indeed, we’ve witnessed several vain attempts to put a foot into our niche market of the English-speaking community in Munich. We don’t get rich producing munich found every month, but we have a lot of fun doing it. That’s already half the battle, for us and for the reader.
As we look to the new year, I also want to introduce you to our new editor in chief Katharina Adler. Some of you might already recognize her name, because she compiled our calendar for years while studying creative writing at Leipzig University. This marks the first time that we’ve had an editor whose native language is not English, but Katharina knows Munich from top to bottom, and she really knows what’s up: in culture, in arts, music, food and just simple everyday life. Not to mention, having an American father gives her the sensitivity to feel what people from other cultures and other countries may want to know about Munich.
So enjoy the winter issue which she put together for you! The next will arrive in February, so she has enough time to work in all your feedback.

The MUNICH FOUND team wishes you a merry Christmas and a peaceful new year.
