Maidult

Winter’s chill has lifted from the Mariahilfplatz, and the shadows of its church no longer trail a lonely square. The Maidult will return from hibernation, stretching out in stands and rides below the Mariahilfkirche’s red neo-gothic steeple. From April 26 to May 4, dealers will be offering a plenitude of jumble; almost everything can be discovered by just strolling across the fairground between 9 am and 8 pm: glass or porcelain, wax or wicker, traditional foods or candy, just to name a few. There also will be a special day for families, on May 2, when cheaper rides in the Kettenflieger (the old-fashioned wave swinger from the Oktoberfest) make a stay at the Maidult even more delightful for children and parents. <<<
