Münchner Kindl is Munich’s latest answer to short-term child parking. Conveniently located in the city center, Münchner Kindl opened its doors in mid-April. It has taken the city more than 13 years to find sponsors and the ideal premises for this ambitious project. Run by the organization Familien Service, it is financed jointly by the city and several local businesses. Here, parents — Munich residents as well as tourists — can leave their children in the care of trained personnel for up to four hours, at an hourly rate of DM 5 (drinks and apples included). Münchner Kindl admits children between the ages of two and ten, providing them with a creative environment and lots of games and activities. It is certainly no substitute for kindergarten, but the enthusiastic response of parents indicates that there is much demand for such a unique institution. Münchner Kindl is located at Burgstr. 6, only one minute from Marienplatz.
