Estamp-who? Two Münchnerinnen and four Münchner — among them a choir director, a set designer at Munich’s Kammerspiele and a musicologist — make up this unusual group, whose album, Ondas, offers “the music of troubadours.” Sung completely in Latin, and incorporating such medieval instruments as the lute, the shawm and the barrel organ, the delightful CD highlights the old while drawing from the new. “Minimal music” with a modern Eastern European flair help Estampie appeal to a broader audience than simply those who yearn for a good Gregorian chant.
