Colorful Imagery Imagery

Multimedia presentation "Welche Frabe hat Familie"

Today, the beginning of the 21st century, the black-and-white picture of the traditional family is fading and being replaced with colorful images. Non-traditional parent constellations, such as single mothers and fathers and homo- sexual partners with children, have prompted pessimists to foresee the downfall of the traditional family as an institution. Yet, upon closer examination, one realizes that the wide range of new forms of cohabitation and the large variety of family models are leading to higher levels of social tolerance. From the perspective of these early 21st-century trends, Munich photographer Barbara Stenzel created a photo exhibition that interacts with the spoken word. The artist chose seven people of different ages, interviewed them and followed each of them through a typical day. Stenzel’s photographs and sound bites reveal her interpretation of each of her subject’s views on “family.” The multimedia presentation Welche Farbe hat die Familie (What Color is a Family) will be on display from December 12, 2000, to January 7, 2001, at the Gasteig (Glashalle/Ostkarée, 1st floor). Admission is free. For further information, call 480 986 12 or visit www.gasteig.de. <<< KA
