Book Value

Storytime for English-speaking children inspires a love of books and new friendships.

A reminder to those with English speaking children – the Münchner Stadtsbibliothek is home to the monthly “Storytime” group. Children between the ages of 2-15 can attend readings in English, followed by an arts and crafts session incorporating elements of the day’s story. Past activities have included sewing, printing, making “stone soup,” and sundae making. Reader and group leader Christel Taylor’s goal is to inspire children to read through entertaining titles and fun projects. Since its beginning in 1993, Storytime has attracted kids from all English speaking countries, as well as bilingual children whose parents want them to brush up on their English. Parents are welcome to participate, and in doing so can form new friendships. The group recently lost some members to relocations, and therefore looks forward to newcomers who value a good read, a creative activity, and a great time. Storytime takes place at the Stadtbibliothek, Zeppelinstr. 5-7, one Friday a month, at 15:00, and usually runs about 90 minutes.
