Out of Africa

Afrika Tage München will be taking place on the Theresienwiese from June 11 to 13. Described as the Wies’n of African culture, the program boasts performances by internationally renowned musicians, such as reggae superstar Lucky Dube and jazz-saxophonist Manu Dibango. And for every ticket sold for these evening concerts, € 1 will go to the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe, an organization devoted to fighting famine and poverty in Africa, Asia and Latin America. There will also be local groups, a colorful bazaar (open daily 11 am–11 pm), a children’s tent, percussion events, dance and drumming workshops and a desert cinema. Or perhaps you would like to take the opportunity to get your hair done by an African hair designer or sample some delicious food? On Sunday, June 13, from 11 am to 7 pm in the Völkerkundemuseum, there will be a series of readings on Africa. For further information on events, visit www.afrika-tage.de.
